I'm a Torontonian. I recall the days in '79 when he was always playing a
local pub near Eglinton and Yonge where I worked. Though his story says
that
he was living in NYC at the time and later moved to BC, I remember him as
being part of the Toronto music scene 26 years-ago. Even then John Baldry's
shows at the pub that I can't recall the name of, was a place where I saw
or met more than a few outstanding artists. Billy Joel had a table there
one
time when he was in town, Ian Hunter's crew and a few other "light weights"
of the day.
May he rest in peace. In the 5 times I've travelled to London, visiting
Soho
was always 'one of those things' to me because of a song he wrote when I was
a kid.
