 Definitely 1964. That was the year they were named "The Who" and the year 
 Keith Moon joined. As for when it ended, if it indeed has, that depends on 
 your definition. If you want to consider The Who a cover band reveling in 
 their past and relying almost entirely on their greatest hits, that's how 
 they were in 1975, three years before Keith Moon died.
