 It's just another ploy to make it hard to get water and make you spend 
 money at the bar, as far as I am concerned.  I am starting to treat 
 them like any other club without free access to water.  And anyway, 
 a gent's is a place where you go for one (okay two) purposes, and those 
 ain't interacting with flunkeys ! 
  
 Special positive mentions here to two clubs that will give you a glass 
 of water and ice free, the Blueprint in Nottingham and Subway City
