 I would go for a set of used EV SX-300's.  These speakers are a 12" with 
 horn design, kick out some serious bass for there size and sound very good. 
 You should be able to get a good used pair for around €500, possibly a 
 little more, but it will be worth it. (new price around €999)  Of course you 
 will have to budget for a good amp, but you will not require something very 
 powerful for home use as these speakers are very sensitive. 
  
 The advantage of going fro pro gear like this is that you could take it out 
 on the road at a later date if you wish.
