 RTD is *no* science fiction writer.  He is, without doubt, the Emperors new 
 clothes of the BBC and he really should stick to do what he does best and 
 thats write pot boiler slop-stone soap nonsense for the modern chav couch 
 potato. 
  
 I have been very dissappointed in this new series, not just because CE's 
 goofy grinning Manc "spiv Doctor" has never worked for me, but because I 
 thought the writing, with a couple of exceptions that were not by RTD, has 
 been lazy, predicatable und totally unimaginative. 
  
 I have absolutely no problem with it being brought up to date, no problems 
 with the occasional double entendres and innuendo, providing that they are 
 done with lightness and are well-crafted, and that is something that RTD, in 
 my opinion, is not capable of doing. 
  
 Would it be too much to ask so have the Doctors regeneration include part of 
 the script writing team?
