So? TV is merely the current popular medium. Before it there were film,
stage, etc. Each one has it's classics. Dr Who has some notable TV
classics to it's name.

Which could be said of any work right back to Shakespeare and before. To
me your comment reflects more on the short term and disposable nature of
current society. Are there, by your reckoning at least, to be no more TV
classics? Quite possibly. Especially when ratings are put above all.
