A very weak ending, and after a promising start. The ending seemed more
 like some pseudo-mystical fantasy.

Also, if the Time Lords controlled so much power how could there have been
a war with the Daleks? Couldn't they have just "wished" the Daleks out of
existence in the same way Rose did?

I can't agree here. The lower floors were just self contained studios
connected by largely unused space. We never saw any of the living
quarters that would have been needed somewhere on the station.

We could have done without, for example, "massive weapons of destruction
capable of being deployed within 45 seconds". Dr Who was never meant for
 crass politicking.

Then again what shows would you use? If it isn't something people could
relate to then it wouldn't convey the message. Also when the Doctor was
talking to Lynda a number of other shows were mentioned by name. Most of
which, AFAIK, have never existed. It wouldn't be totally impossible for
very old formats to be used as a basis to fill the available channels.

Of course, on the other hand, you can see it as just more politicking.
The increase of game shows and "reality" TV leading to stagnation and
decline in society. The politicking will also help to date the show very
quickly. Political messages are often either contemporary or meaningless.

Me too. Good start, bad finish. Again. At least it did manage a good
start which is better than some of the stories.
