 I've never seen any evidence of causation. No evidence the rioter saw 
 the tweet. Nor do I think people should be blamed in the extremely 
 unlikely event that a deranged person misinterprets hyperbole as literal. 
  
 On the other hand, the guy who did make a social media post blaming a 
 migrant doesn't seem to have been prosecuted. 
  
 In short, she was prosecuted, because her tweet fitted, it looked 
 suitable to make an example of. 
  
 It is also worth noting the rioters did not seriously try to burn down 
 the hotel. More a symbolic bin burning. It wasn't petrol through the 
 letterbox in the dead of night.
