 It avoids time-consuming arguments about whether "the people" want a 
 no-deal Brexit or a deal which makes compromises and gives us access to 
 the single market. 
  
 We've spent more than 3 years arguing about what Brexit means, in the 
 manner of theologians arguing about the meaning of scripture. The 
 electorate are bored and impatient but it is quite wrong to say that MPs 
 have been wasting time.
