He doesn't want a no-deal. He doesn't want to be Prime Minister of a country sinking into recession, with factory closures and unemployment soaring and tax revenues dwindling. Not that it would be his fault, of course. But he knows he wouldn't be able to fix it, and the electorate would then switch its allegiance to a party which claims to be able to fix it.
