There is no hard evidence that police presence has any significant
effect on street crime. To the contrary, what studies have been done
showed no significant effect.

Police work is no more dangerous than most common jobs. Bureau of Labor
Statistics figures show that garbage collectors have a much higher
job-related fatality rate--As do electricians, truck drivers, taxi
drivers, and even traveling salesmen.

Again, no evidence for that whatsoever. There were no police forces
when this country was founded and in fact up until the mid-1800s, but
society got along just fine.

I salute all those who expose government waste and corruption, of which
police are a prime example.
