Subject: GNUbies September 8, 2004 - Sam Hiser

Sorry this is so terribly late. I was waiting to hear from our speaker.
  (Please note security procedures below)

We are pleased to announce that Sam Hiser will once again be speaking at
GNUbies tomorrow night, that is Wednesday September 8, 2004. As you may
recall he has given presentations on OpenOfffice.org in the past. And
this will undoubtedly be part of his talk this Wednesday night
  - that is TOMORROW night.

The final title for the talk was never confirmed, but he will be talking
about both OpenOffice.org and the desktop.

He has said he would demonstrate Sun's GNU/Linux desktop --
called the Java Desktop System -- in context of Sun's overall Java
branding strategy and introduce some of the new features in the new
OpenOffice2 (beta), including the new database module called OpenOffice
  "Base".

And one of the titles he sugested was "Free Software for the Enterprise:
Sun's Java Desktop System in Context." Please bear in mind thouh that
this was not finalized and that OpenOffice.org will be discussed as well.
