 1. Cognos Developer/Modeler Openings

 DESCRIPTION OF WORK 
  
 The initial assignment for this position will be focused on extending the 
 Cognos Business Intelligence (BI) developmental and reporting infrastructure 
 for the ScheduleSoft & ECCR systems at the Port. The Cognos 
 Developer/Modeler 
 will design, develop, 
 install, and maintain Cognos-based reporting applications that include such 
 features as, but not limited to: 
 * Flexible reporting with detailed analysis and drill-down on various 
 construction-project metrics 
 * ETL using IBM Data Manager and/or Microsoft MS-SQL Server Integration 
 Services (SSIS) 
 * Score-carding and dashboards 
 * Requirements gathering and requirements documentation for a system 
 implementation. 
 * Understanding of system integration and the system interaction within the 
 business. 
 * Production support, including resolving end user Service Requests, 
 troubleshooting and providing solutions to end user issues. 
 * Organize, implement and participate with system test planning, develop 
 system test scripts, and produce documentation for software test reports. 
  
 The Cognos Developer/Modeler will be developing additional ScheduleSoft, and 
 eCCR, reports. The Developer/Modeler will also be developing a consolidated 
 framework that includes both eCCR and ScheduleSoft application changes that 
 will be implemented after 
 the databases have been upgraded. 
  
 This Cognos Developer/Modeler will also be responsible for transferring 
 solution knowledge to production support and maintenance personnel, as 
 needed. 
 The incumbent shall be able to communicate technical concepts in non- 
 technical 
 terms when working with 
 non-technical Port Authority staff. 
  
 The successful candidate should be a 'self-starter' with the following 
 education, experience, and technical qualifications: 
 1. Experience/Qualifications: 
  
 a. Provides expertise in designing & developing Frameworks and reports that 
 go 
 against the data-warehouse and other systems; 
 b. Provides guidance on best practices, supports existing frameworks & 
 reports; 
 c. Translate user requirements into technical specifications, design and 
 develop framework manager models, design and develop reports, dashboard and 
 cubes, create and maintain technical application documentation. 
 d. Shall have five (5) years experience designing and developing frameworks 
 and five (5) years of solid report writing experience. 
  
 2. Other Toolset Skills or Soft skills listed below are optional.  These 
 skill 
 sets are highly desirable, as these are the various technologies that Cognos 
 interfaces with or used in the course of developing Cognos Applications: 
  
 a. Five (5+) years experience independently developing Cognos applications 
 and 
 Cognos reports from the ground up 
 b. Experience developing Cognos BI Framework Packages, Cognos PowerPlay 
 cubes, 
 technical requirements and design documents for business applications 
 c. ETL experience in Microsoft MS-SQL Integration Services and/or IBM Data 
 manager or similar tools to push data from Cognos Enterprise Planning or 
 Cognos TM1 to Cognos Business Intelligence. 
 d. Five (5) years of data modeling/data warehousing experience 
 e. Three (3+) years experience supporting Cognos business applications with 
 direct customer contact. 
 f. Possess analytical and critical thinking skills with technical problems 
 of 
 high complexity, i.e., ability to collect information to ascertain the root 
 cause of a complex issue and make timely decisions when recommending 
 corrective action. 
 g. The ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and assignments of

 DESCRIPTION OF WORK 
  
 The initial assignment for this position will be focused on supporting and 
 troubleshooting existing  Cognos Business Intelligence (BI) modules for 
 existing and/or new development in support of  various business applications 
 for capital projects across 
 the Client (aka: Integrated Capital Management System (ICMS) ).   The 
 Consultant shall also, as needed to repair problems, modify BI software 
 modules.  Work products include, but not limited to: 
  
 * Utilizing the capabilities of Cognos 10 and their various Cognos studios 
 support end user needs 
 * Work with the customer, end users, technical architect, and application 
 designers to define the data requirements and structure for the 
 application. 
 * Assist in determining the cross-application data standards, data 
 distribution standards, and tuning strategies. 
 * Work with the technical architects and application designers to fully 
 understand the data conversion requirements in support of the various 
 applications. 
 * Review the database deliverables throughout development to ensure quality 
 and traceability to requirements and adherence to all quality management 
 plans 
 and standards. 
 * Write and/or modify, as appropriate, Cognos BI/Reports modules
