 we have 2  5000 BTU window AC's one brand new in the box purchased last 
 summer and never used and the another of the same model used 1 month. Cools 
 off a 10 ft x 13 ft room nicely

 1-  12000 btu unit (still in wondow and very heavy) 3 years old 
 we have this cooling off a 12 x 30 area and its like an ice box
