Okay, I googled it. You will be at Broadway and 54th. That is between
Central Park (to the north) and Times Square (to the south), closer to
Central Park. You could walk to the Times Square district if you liked -
north/south blocks are fairly short. (East/west blocks are much longer.)
Times Square itself is where Broadway crosses 7th Avenue at 42nd St.
Columbus Circle (the southwest corner of Central Park) is where Broadway
crosses 8th at 59th St.
David Imber's suggestions (Dylan Prime, etc.) are in the Tribeca
neighborhood of Manhattan, quite a ways to the south of where you will be
staying. You'd want to take a taxi. The subway is also a good bet if you
are up to taking the subway on your first day in an unfamiliar city! If
you would prefer restaurants in walking distance from your hotel, that's
midtown Manhattan (a designation that covers a lot of territory).
I hope this helps! I am sorry that I cannot make restaurant
recommendations. Although I grew up in New York City, it has been a number
of years since I have lived there.
