 Just a bit of information for future reference. Whenever your car is towed 
 without your authorization by a private towing company they are required by 
 NYS law to report that they are doing so to the local police precinct. The 
 first step you should always take is call the local precinct and report your 
 car stolen. If the towing company has not reported the tow you have an upper 
 hand in getting your car back without paying any charges by threatening to
