XPost: ny.politics, nyc.general, nyc.politics XPost: nyc.transit From: liberty@once.net Poor man wants to be rich, rich man wants to be king, And a king ain't satisfied till he rules everything! - Bruce Springsteen New York's elitist billionaire mayor Bloomberg is trying to outdo his tyrannical predecessor in bullying the city council, among others, into giving him his way on aboloshing term limits so he can stay on as mayor for another four years. This proves his arrogance, as it is a direct slap in the face to the voters that TWICE rejected this change. To REPUBLICAN Bloomberg, as with his autocratic predecessor, there is no such thing as democracy. If the people don't want something and have clearly said so more than once, he sabotages them by circumventing the democratic process entirely. Screw the voters, he seems to think, for I am KING! In his hoped-for lame-duck 3rd term, Republican billionaire businessman Bloomberg would establish a commuter tax, increase existing taxes on NYC residents, and use every trick in the book to squeeze every dollar he can from middle-class, working New Yorkers, while benefitting the wealthy. Remember how he fought tooth and nail to keep parking meter rules in effect on Sundays? Have you ever been stung by a ticket under the deceptive SCAM of unnecessary "night regulation" parking rules? Under arrogant Bloomberg, we would be paying higher transit fares, higher tolls, and new tolls on the East River bridges. All fees related to city services would increase. And rents - if you are fortunate enough to be under rent stabilization, kiss that, or at least its benefits, goodbye! If Bloomberg gets away with sabotaging term limits to continue his elitist rule of New York City, make no mistake about it, he will permit such rich-to-richer pro-landlord measures as a rent surcharge for increased fuel costs and high percentage lease renewal rent increases with minimum increase amounts. Bloomberg is an arrogant billionaire Republican - one of those that let the CEOs and stock-fixers rape investors and homeowners. Keep him in office, and more greedmongers are waiting for their turn - which he will gladly give them! --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05 * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2) |
