Because the smoke does not kill people on the spot.
The deaths are said to be due to lung cancer, heart attack, asthsma, stroke,
etc., but no mention is made of the exacerbating, sometimes causative factor
 of tobacco smoke.

Tobacco smoke, no matter how it is inhaled, carries carcinogens and other
toxins, and is addictive. The fact that it is a causative factor in several
serious diseases is a matter of medical record. Combining it with chemical
carcinogens from other sources only increases the risk.
It is noteworthy that there is no correlation between marijuana smoking and
disease, other than occasional bronchitis. Studies in countries such as
Jamaica in which marijuana is in heavy use have borne this out. It is said
that marijuana contains antioxidants that nullify the effects of the
 carcinogens in the smoke.
So why not legalize marijuana? Pot bars would do well, as they do in such
enlightened societies as Amsterdam. You could be smoking less and enjoying
it more, without risking your health.
