Don't get me wrong - Daniel is a treasure (both the man and the
restaurant). I've met him on several occasions and written about him and
his various projects. He's part of what makes NYC great, and I didn't mean
to diminish his restaurant or his accomplishments. But I can't help feeling
[what I think of as] a kind of fustiness in the atmosphere there. Others
may love the place for just what I'm interpreting as a negative, and that's
what makes horse races, isn't it?
