And what if you had taken the last available spot, so they missed out on a big sale because there was no parking available? Also, you may think $160 is outrageous, others may not. I know people who regularly drive to work and when they can't find a parking spot just park on the street. They just accept the $40 ticket as part of the expense of driving a car. I'm guessing that the $160 is high enough to be an effective deterrent. BTW, what happens in New York when you park on a busy downtown street for an hour?
