Someone in news.software.readers can probably give you helpful suggestions
to get Gnus behaving properly. Beware that some people there automatically
plonk anything posted using G2 (which is the User-Agent header inserted by
Google). As you have a GUI running, you could try Knode or Thunderbird for
posting to your news-server until you get Gnus reined in.
