Yes, and I think the important underlying question there is "Do we
want people we don't know (in some way) voting on groups?" Obviously,
in the past, we've said that's OK. Maybe we change that, I don't
know, but it's not going to happen overnight. A lot of this talk
here smacks of "Death of Usenet Predicted, Film at 11" stuff. If
we do end up making these sorts of changes, it's going to be with
plenty of patience, and it's also probably going to be in reaction
to people here coming up with something that sounds really good.
Notarized letters are not one of those things, but please do continue
brainstorming.
I also want to say something about Wayne's remarks, as long as I'm
here: Thanks for being so supportive, Wayne, but we cannot decide
things about the viability of newsgroups without other people's
help. We just don't know the answer to whether something is a good
idea or not without hearing from others.
