An NYM that is new to Usenet would tend to get very many No votes,
espcially if there was only one moderator. An known and respected NYM
would get much fewer because of the proposed moderator being known to
those that vote. There still is the 100 plus Yes vote rule. Okay was
not clear that I meant able to get the Yes votes, I implied it though
in "get votes" was thinking along the lines of desired votes, i.e. Yes
votes. I also said other factors would effect a vote.
Perhaps one would not actually be recognised by all of the Yes voters,
in that during the RFD phase the voters would be doing some searches
and judging fitness to moderate a group.
A proposal for group is on more then just a moderator, however if
during the discussion the fitness to moderate can not be seen from
posting history, it will tend to get far greater No votes, If the
proposed moderator is considered totally unfit (i.e. not respected) I
would expect that would be mentioned during the discussion and would
most likely generate even more No cotes then an unknown NYM.
Known and respected, should generate the fewest No votes.
Unknown should generate more No votes.
Known and not respected should generate the highest number of No
votes.
Of course this is what I would expect would happen, no one knows for
sure why those that vote vote the way they do most of the time..
