 If it was a 'definition that photo enthusiasts use' then there would 
 be a significant number of people toting 'SLRs' that had 
 interchangebale lenses but were not in fact SLRs. Are you aware of 
 this? 
  
 I'm going to keep at this because since the proponents seem to be 
 elitist and uncommnicative bastards, this appears to be the only way
