If you struck out the word 'purebred,' this proposal would fly very well. As it is, it seems to alienate owners of hybrids (and very likely the kittens of cats that have been rescued [bought] from laboratories). For instance, for three happy weeks, I was the owner of a big, strong, 'pure white' albino cat, complete with white whiskers and pink eyes and paws. He couldn't go outside in the daytime, because it made his eyes hurt. (As fate would have it, my father 'gave' him away.) It is hard to say which 'breed' he belonged to, but I'd have guessed he was a tabby, but for having no color pigmentation in his coat at all, that makes it pretty hard to guess. Can't you strike out the word 'purebred?' |That is feline husbandry other then what is covered in existing Usenet |news groups (i.e. rec.pets.cats, and rec.pets.cats.health+behav) such |as: | |- finding a responsible, ethical breeder |- choosing the right breed for you Hm... Speaking for myself, I would like one that is a cross between the European domestic cat, and the North American bobcat. Very smart animals, those. Good pictures to look at, at least insofar as the ones that I've seen on Internet, and at the few county fairs that I have been to. People should never adopt animals unless they have the wherewithal of time, space, and money, and that which is necessary to provide for their well-being. |- show announcements |- show brags |- seeking mentoring from other breeders/owners |- choosing the right registry for you and your cats |etc. | |The proposed unmoderated newsgroup rec.pets.cats.breeds is not |intended for for-sale postings.
