I've never advocated pretending spamers don't exist -- it should be
fairly clear from my own address that I'm taking various steps against
them, but not to the point of making my address non-functional as it
stands.
I wasn't aware gmail had had this sort of problem. Have you found the
gmail problem to have subsided? I'd be surprised if the google folks
weren't actively seeking ways to keep it to a dull roar.

This is the benefit of using a newsreader that can be completely
customised.
