Most of those cases are substantively alike and are reported and dealt
with by live humans.
I *seriously* doubt Jason Christie, to name one of the people who argues
for a non-jet-into-Pentagon story, really believes what he's saying. It
just gets amazing rises out of fish.
And that sort of trolling is even more amusing if you can get the other
side to be irritating enough to draw the personal attention of a
despammer.
I don't think this was the case with JH in the rec pet group, but with
Jason Gortician, getting his opponents to behave unreasonably reasonable
is really a prime part of the game.
The other side of this is that only unintelligent people need the
follow-up giving the "real story," so what you have in the people doing
the silly followings up are mission posters themselves, and rather
unintelligent ones.
