 r.p.d will take posts about such cameras, if the new point+shoot group 
 doesn't pass.  I agree that "point and shoot" has a negative sound to it, 
 but it's really the only name we have to work with other than "compact", 
 and "compact" also has a size implication that makes it mean something 
 slightly different. 
  
 It's a similar situation to the SLR group, where "SLR" isn't really the 
 greatest name for what we're talking about (especially since most people 
 don't know what it stands for, and most people who do know what it stands 
 for don't know what it actually means, and since no one actually cares 
 much about the technical distinction that it names) but it's what we have 
 to work with.

 Incidentally, I, an SLR user, also own a p+s camera, and I intend to vote 
 for the p+s group.  (I think I shall abstain from the ZLR one, because I 
 have little interest in that class of camera and probably won't read that 
 group; ZLRs seem to me to be the worst of both worlds, neither compact 
 and convenient nor versatile and high-quality.)
