Thanks for the woodcentral suggestion I'll give it a try. I maybe should
have suggested something like rec.furniture or rec.cabinetmaking as they are
perhaps more to the point of what I am looking for.

Well you may be right that only a half-dozen current people are irratated.
but I do know of a couple of other people in the business who stay away
because of the general tone and it has caused me to wonder how many more
there may be. Mundane was perhaps a bad choice of words on my part sorry.
It is sometimes easy to forget there are many levels of people reading the
newgroup including some who are new to woodworking. On the other hand there
are others who are perhaps more experienced and stop showing up because of
the lack of relevent topics. It is very difficult for one newsgroup to serve
everyone equally well. Its probably the reason we have so many different
makers of tools, different woodworking related magazines and different
flavors of ice cream. Everybody like someting a little different. It would
be nice to have a more friendly forum for those of us who find the porn and
 related items very offensive.

Understand that it's not your or many others cup of tea which is why the
effort is not to try to change rec.woodworking but to form a new group. I
think if someone thinks thats a bad thing they can stay away from the new
group. If enough people stay away it will die and so be it. It looks like it
will never get a chance. I'm just moaning a little because it had my hopes
up for a while. Don't mean to cause any trouble over this so I will just
disappear again. Thank you for your comments and suggestions.
