 What about rangefinders that don't have detachable lenses? 
  
 Otherwise, where is the next most appropriate group if the proposed 
 group doesn't get created but the others do?  The assumption is RPD. 
 Same question applies to the other proposed groups.

 Quality, usefulness, merit, or non-newsgroups popularity of a topic 
 is more or less irrelevant in creating a new Big-8 newsgroup. 
 Usenet popularity is the primary consideration.
