The definition that Guy supplied also contained these words:
"The SLR cameras also offer the ability for the photographer to quickly
and simply change the lens, thus making them versatile."
I see only quite minor problems with the definition, and not
arbitrariness, with the possible exception of specifically adding in
potential rangefinders, that being confusing to those who might choose
to be confused- or argumentative.
I do believe that the term SLR has evolved sufficiently- at least in the
US and UK, from my own knowledge, that it's going to be misunderstood
only with some effort, be it of the pedantic or obstinate type.
