It is a question about the valuie of creating any new unmoderated
group to improve the signal-to-noise ratio when the noise is created
by trolls. What we are talking about here is essentially splitting a
group. The question is whether the noise is the result of having two
communities in one group, with flamewars over whether traffic is
off-topic, or whether it is due to flamers and trolls. If there are
two communities in one group, then splitting the group will reduce the
noise if the posters to the group respect the boundaries between the
groups and refrain from cross-posting.
I would still like to see an analysis of the nature of the noise and
what the effect of the split will be.
