 I think the proposed moderator was a DVM.  I was able to find much 
 more discussion for the unmoderated proposal the year before which 
 started as rec.pets.health and became sci.med.veterinary but didn't go 
 to a vote. 
  
 I was kind of hoping the results would show 400 DVM for and 300 MD 
 against.  I could see that one conflict would be those who wanted to 
 have a group exclusively for the discussion of the practice of 
 veterinary medicine vs. more general animal health.  In the former, 
 consumers input might be limited to things like how do I find a vet, 
 rather than what to do about Rover's fleas.  Or maybe there were 
 concerns that it would be limited to small pets.  But all that is 
 speculations.
