A lot of heavy usenet users "munge" their email account. Most
news readers require you enter an email address but it doesn't
require that email address be accurate. Spammers have bots...
programs..that go through usenet groups and strip out the email
addresses. If you want to cut down on spam, do not post
from a viable account...in fact, do your isp a favor and make sure
 the xxxx.net part is inaccurate.
This also prevents unsolicited back channel emails.
This won't help if your address is in the book of an infected
computer but it will prevent others from snagging your address
 and perpetuating the problem.
For the record, I haven's seen this problem at all. Either I am
not in the address book of an infected computer or my ISP/and
or firewall is doing a good job of blocking.
