 As part of this I also went with the other pending changes, to unify 
 the coding style, for the entire code base, which has been a bit 
 tedious. But getting there now.

 It seems I got entangled with multiple changes here, and going over the 
 entire code base multiple times has taken its time. Will try to finish 
 this soon, as this is blocking the current release, which I'd like to 
 get out soon.
