  Subj: initramfs-tools v0.148.3 and Reiser4 SFR
 Niltze [Hello]-

Indeed, I am *well* aware that Debian does not support the reiser4 file
system that some of us use on a daily basis, as well as on our remote
 server(s).

Nevertheless, I had to point out that initramfs-tools commit
 0df1765e902e56d9698beacc1cc056f327ed58c2

      Merge branch 'block-modules' into 'debian/latest'

Filter block kernel modules by symbol regex from dracut

      See merge request kernel-team/initramfs-tools!149

prevents reiser4 booting into a newly installed system (with reiser4 on
root '/') with the following (last fragment):
 ...
 Begin: Running /scripts/local-block ... done.
 Begin: Running /scripts/local-block ... done.
 Begin: Running /scripts/local-block ... done.
 done.
Gave up waiting for root file system device. Common problems:
   - Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline)
     - Check rootdelay= (did the system wait long enough?)
   - Missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls /dev)
ALERT! PARTUUID=STUV-WXYZ does not exist. Dropping to a shell!

 BusyBox v1.37.0 (Debian 1:1.37.0-6+b3) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

Of course, *all* those pre-cooked suggestions to resolve the issue
simply are wrong and sent me on 'a wild goose chase', suspecting udev,
libudev1, and binutils, as suggested in links:
 < https://www.linux.org/threads/cannot-mount-root-on-grub.51331/ >

The issue happens with VirtualBox 7.1.10 and in actual hardware.
Notwithstanding, stripping away the relevant commit from initramfs-tools
v0.148.3 source, rebuilding the package, and subsequently manually
installing in a rescue environment, solves the reiser4 booting issue.

On the other hand, there are exceptions when upgrading a Debian Bookworm
with reiser4 root '/' file system into a Trixie system, somehow the
booting issue does not happen in a couple of instances I have upgraded.
