XPost: linux.debian.bugs.dist From: jbicha@debian.org Kirill, I saw you uploaded an updated version to Debian mentors so it looks like you are still interested in doing the work to get this into Debian, so here is an updated vision of what I'd like to see: Bastian has uploaded pyftfeatfreeze to Debian's NEW queue. You can build that package yourself locally. Add pyfeatfreeze and fonts-inter-variable to fonts-adwaita's Build-Depends. https://salsa.debian.org/python-team/packages/fonttools-opentype feature-freezer Update debian/rules with the pyfeatfreeze command from sans/update-fonts.sh so that we convert the Debian fonts-inter-variable ttf files to the file names and style needed for fonts-adwaita-sans. Finally, install the .ttf files we built to the appropriate location instead of using GNOME's pre-built files. As I wrote earlier, I think we should follow this same plan for the mono font. Since fonts-iosevka isn't in Debian yet, we simply won't have a fonts-adwaita-mono binary package until it does. (Adwaita's customized build of the mono font is also more complex so it might be easier to build the fonts-adwaita-mono package from a fonts-iosevka source package.) We can upload fonts-adwaita to experimental NEW without waiting for the pyfeatfreeze package to be accepted first. As of 49.0, upstream fonts-adwaita is now fully OFL-1.1, so debian/copyright should be updated.
