XPost: linux.debian.bugs.dist From: jay@jp-hosting.net Package: src:linux Version: 6.16.3-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, There is a possibility that my laptop's battery is in a degrated state of health; if this issue is determined to be a hardware problem, then my apologies in advance for time spent debugging. Recently I have noticed that the battery power indicator in my GNOME desktop environment frequently indicates a 0% charge level, despite the fact that the laptop can continue without AC power for some time. I've been using the upower utility (from the binary package of the same name) to report in-use battery statistics, and receive inconsistent results. The most recent results, as I write this, are shown below: $ sudo upower -i /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_BAT0 native-path: BAT0 vendor: LGC model: 00HW028 serial: 65535 power supply: yes updated: Sun Sep 7 20:01:12 2025 (7 seconds ago) has history: yes has statistics: yes battery present: yes rechargeable: yes state: pending-charge warning-level: none energy: 0 Wh energy-empty: 0 Wh energy-full: 43.41 Wh energy-full-design: 50.54 Wh voltage-min-design: 15.2 V capacity-level: Critical energy-rate: 0 W charge-cycles: N/A percentage: 0% capacity: 85.8924% technology: lithium-polymer charge-start-threshold: 75% charge-end-threshold: 80% charge-threshold-enabled: yes charge-threshold-supported: yes icon-name: 'battery-caution-charging-symbolic' History (charge): 1757271651 0.000 unknown History (rate): 1757271651 0.000 unknown In previous boots of the system earlier today, I have encountered 0 Wh values simultaneously for both the energy-full and energy-full design fields. I do not recall encountering the 0% battery status indicator before upgrading to Debian trixie -- however, it is also possible that the physical state of the battery has degraded within that same time window. Any help much appreciated, Thanks, James -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 6.16.3+deb14-amd64 (debian-kernel@lists.debian.org) (x86_64-linux-gnu-gcc-14 (Debian 14.3.0-5) 14.3.0, GNU ld (GNU Binutils for Debian) 2.45) #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.16.3-1 (2025-08-24) ** Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-6.16.3+deb14-amd64 root=/dev/mapper/Debian-root ro quiet ** Not tainted ** Kernel log: Unable to read kernel log; any relevant messages should be attached ** Model information sys_vendor: LENOVO product_name: 20FQS0EV00 product_version: ThinkPad X1 Yoga 1st chassis_vendor: LENOVO chassis_version: None bios_vendor: LENOVO bios_version: N1FET82W (1.56 ) board_vendor: LENOVO board_name: 20FQS0EV00 board_version: Not Defined ** Configuration for modprobe: blacklist arkfb blacklist aty128fb blacklist atyfb blacklist radeonfb blacklist cirrusfb blacklist cyber2000fb blacklist kyrofb blacklist matroxfb_base blacklist mb862xxfb blacklist neofb blacklist pm2fb blacklist pm3fb blacklist s3fb blacklist savagefb blacklist sisfb blacklist tdfxfb blacklist tridentfb blacklist vt8623fb blacklist microcode options snd_pcsp index=-2 options cx88_alsa index=-2 options snd_atiixp_modem index=-2 options snd_intel8x0m index=-2 options snd_via82xx_modem index=-2 options md_mod start_ro=1 options bonding max_bonds=0 options dummy numdummies=0 options ifb numifbs=0 ** Loaded modules: snd_seq_dummy snd_hrtimer snd_seq snd_seq_device ccm rfcomm cmac algif_hash algif_skcipher af_alg snd_sof_pci_intel_skl snd_sof_intel_hda_generic soundwire_intel soundwire_generic_allocation snd_sof_intel_hda_sdw_bpt snd_sof_intel_hda_common snd_soc_hdac_hda snd_sof_intel_hda_mlink snd_sof_intel_hda bnep soundwire_cadence snd_sof_pci snd_sof_xtensa_dsp snd_sof snd_sof_utils snd_soc_acpi_intel_match snd_soc_acpi_intel_sdca_quirks binfmt_misc snd_soc_acpi crc8 soundwire_bus snd_soc_sdca snd_soc_avs intel_rapl_msr snd_soc_hda_codec iwlmvm intel_rapl_common snd_hda_ext_core intel_pmc_core_pltdrv snd_soc_core intel_pmc_core snd_hda_codec_hdmi mac80211 snd_compress snd_pcm_dmaengine snd_hda_codec_conexant snd_hda_codec_generic pmt_telemetry pmt_class intel_pmc_ssram_telemetry intel_vsec snd_hda_intel x86_pkg_temp_thermal libarc4 snd_intel_dspcfg intel_powerclamp snd_intel_sdw_acpi snd_hda_codec snd_hda_core mei_hdcp iwlwifi coretemp mei_wdt mei_pxp rapl intel_cstate btusb snd_hwdep snd_pcm intel_uncore nls_ascii btrtl nls_cp437 pcspkr hid_sensor_magn_3d hid_sensor_als hid_sensor_gyro_3d vfat fat hid_sensor_accel_3d think_lmi hid_sensor_trigger btintel snd_ctl_led cfg80211 wmi_bmof snd_timer firmware_attributes_class btbcm btmtk thinkpad_acpi bluetooth nvram sparse_keymap hid_sensor_iio_common industrialio_triggered_buffer kfifo_buf platform_profile mei_me industrialio rfkill mei intel_pch_thermal intel_xhci_usb_role_switch snd roles ac soundcore sg evdev joydev msr i2c_dev efi_pstore configfs nfnetlink ip_tables x_tables autofs4 ext4 crc16 mbcache jbd2 crc32c_cryptoapi dm_crypt dm_mod raid10 raid456 async_raid6_recov async_memcpy async_pq async_xor async_tx xor raid6_pq raid1 raid0 md_mod bochs drm_shmem_helper hid_sensor_custom hid_sensor_hub wacom hid_generic intel_ishtp_hid usbhid hid sd_mod iTCO_wdt intel_pmc_bxt i915 iTCO_vendor_support watchdog xhci_pci drm_buddy xhci_hcd ttm i2c_algo_bit ahci drm_display_helper cec libahci psmouse ghash_clmulni_intel rc_core libata sha512_ssse3 sha1_ssse3 drm_client_lib video usbcore scsi_mod aesni_intel drm_kms_helper intel_ish_ipc i2c_i801 serio_raw battery intel_ishtp i2c_smbus wmi drm usb_common scsi_common button efivarfs ** PCI devices: 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v5/E3-1500 v5/6th Gen Core Processor Host Bridge/DRAM Registers [8086:1904] (rev 08) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:2238] [continued in next message] --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05 * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2) |
