 I didn't suggest this because my understanding is that a few parts of 
 our infrastructure (particularly dak/ftp team things, I think?) send 
 mail to the Maintainer specifically, and not to an address that gets 
 forwarded to tracker.debian.org subscribers; and this is why it's 
 considered to be an RC bug if mail to the Maintainer address bounces. 
  
 I can certainly see an argument that this would be a bug in those pieces 
 of infra, because anything that the Maintainer needs to be told about is 
 probably equally something that the package's distro-tracker subscribers 
 ought to be told about.
