| Subj: Bug#1117026: Gnome terminal will not sho |
From: claus.fischer@clausfischer.com Package: gnome-terminal Version: 3.56.2-2 Because my Apple Macbook sets LC_CTYPE=UTF-8 (an Apple problem), I followed advice and reconfigured my Debian machine to not use a default locale: dpkg-reconfigure locales ... Default locale for the system environment: None ... Afterwards, when logging in again, Gnome Terminal would not start. Though I made multiple modifications at the same time, this appears to be the culprit, because when setting back the locales and logging in again, Gnome Terminal would start. The gnome-console on the other hand works fine without the default locale. One would at least expect the gnome-terminal to start and show some kind of error message, or to log something to stderr when encountering this situation. But when started from an xterm or gnome console, it does not utter anything. --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05 * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2) |
