Hi; Steve and Brock. Interesting topic about your BC taxes.
Here, Atlantic provinces, we pay 15% HST (that's provincial plus federal
combined.) on most things except food.
AFIK pack of 20 cigs. is now around $8 retail including all taxes.
A slightly amusing item about relative cost of cigarettes. A woman
travelling to Newfoundland on a late flight, to London which stops at St.
John's Newfoundland about midnight, went to sleep on the plane When she woke
was out over the Atlantic on the way to Heathrow London! She wanted the
plane to turn back, but it didn't of course.
After landing in London she had to hold over before returning. One of her
major complaints was that a pack of cigarettes at Heathrow, cost her $14
Canadian!
Cheers. Terry.
PS. A non smoking senior by the way.
