Many thanks to Carter and Thomas, to date, for the thoughtful replies and
 information re CCards.
 .
Reference the comment : (Retailer charge for using a card for small purchase
 e.g less than $5.)
 > I've noticed this for debit - I've never seen this for CC.
Terry says: That is I think correct; it was probably a debit card I was
using, not a credit card for a very small purchase at one of those discount
stores. Come to think, don't believe CC companies allow their users to
charge any 'extra fee'. So the comment was correct.

The comment about limited number of transactions (considering the profits
 banks are announcing) is pertinent!
Haven't had a problem with charges for 'extra' transactions but a good
reminder to check if the number for my 'seniors account' (no annual fee)
have a limit above which we pay. Thanks for the thought.

Thanksfor the info about Visa RB Classic. $35 per year much lower than I
expected. Gee whiz I'm paying $2 per month just for the convenience of
having a very few cleared bank cheques per year sent back to me!

One reads about cards that offer; 'Cash-back', 'Zero per cent for 9 or 12

Although many are not available in Canada anyway!

CC Fine print! Yeah, me too. Including the ones that start charging
interest, as though 'those checks' were/are cash withdrawal, at 18 or 21 per
cent etc. the moment one would use them! What a 'come-on'!
