Funny how the fine print always gets ya, eh!

I saw Harper, on TV, standing in front of a display of multiple TV's
(probably at a Future Shop?) which all were displaying "5%".
Since the current tax is 7%, who wouldn't conclude that it is going to
 drop by 2%?
This is just the usual trickery of buying voters with their own money,
and it is usually clawed right back.

They didn't stop Mulroney from from giving Seniors a paltry pension
increase to buy their votes, and then claw it back in increased fees
 and rents.
A 1% drop in GST is hardly going to put much money in the average
pocket. The guy buying a new Mercedes will have a significant chunk of
cash, but the minimum wage earner will be lucky if the savings buys
another box or two of Krap Dinner.
However, it IS going to produce a 1/7th drop in government gst
revenue. Will they cut services, or jack up other fees to recoup it
from us? Just the same old shell game to buy votes.
Given the likely lifespan of the Harper government, we'll never see
the additional 1% cut. Pie in the sky.
