From: me@coldmail.com I used a LINKSYS router for several years, simple straightforward setup, and worked reliably. Wanted to add another computer, but running a cable was problematic, so decided to go wireless, and, based on the reliability I had experienced with LINKSYS, I bought a LINKSYS wireless router and a USB wireless reciever. Big mistake. First discovery was that "support" had moved to India. Had problems gettings receiver to work with notebook, and the individual I spoke with was surly, arrogant, rude. The wired connections worked ok, but the wireless has always been problematic. Sometimes, it works fine. Other times, it won't connect to the net, or it just bogs down and becomes glacially slow. Finally got so intolerable, that I disconnected the router, and reverted to Sympatico's Access Manager software on one computer. I'm going to replace this LINKSYS crap with a DLINK router. This is what happens when good, viable corporation gets a greedscum CEO who decides he is going to increase profits, and his personal remuneration (GREED, GREED, GREED!) by moving the jobs from America to some third world sweatshop haven. This isn't just some isolated incident of a bad unit - go to Google and search for "Linksys wireless problems" and see how many others regret their Linksys purchase! --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05 * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2) |
