You are correct. Frankly we haven't had any problems using a our credit card
and as you suggest pay the balance monthly.
What we do is pay one dollar more than the balance, a few days before due,
each month. Even if we do not use the card at all the following month we are
one dollar 'in credit' and this seems to ensure that we receive a paper
statement. In some five years of using a no annual charge Can. Tire Options
Master Card we have not incurred any interest charges whatsoever.
If we were to owe a balance on the card it would be necessary to pay a
certain monthly minimum and would also incur credit card interest at an APR
of 18.9%! If it was ever necessary to run an unpaid balance it's much
cheaper to borrow from your bank! Even an unsecured bank LOC is currently
around 6.75%.
