Who would you pick to be your family Dr then, the Canadian trained one or the immigrant who got to practice in Canada at a lower standard of professionalism and knowledge? I have travelled the world more then enough to know that in some countries one could buy a Dr's degree for as little as $15,000 US. I think our standards are just fine where they are and if someone cannot pass them then so be it. I personally have a friend who was trained as a Vet (DVM) overseas and then moved to the US. He passed and practiced in Florida before moving to Boston and working there for a very short time before coming to Canada. He goes to Montreal every year and writes the exams to be accredited to open an animal clinic in Canada but just can't pass the tests. He has never complained that our tests are too hard and has noted that those in the US are much easier. Personally, I'd go with the person who had to meet the higher standards whether I was getting treatment for me, my family or my animals. There was also a woman on the news a month or two ago complaining that she was a well respected Judge in her old country but that she couldn`t pass the bar exams here in Canada. Too bad I say. Learn the laws here and how to practice here and then pass and work. Anyway, this is a sore topic for me so I will end my rant now before I piss off too many people who dont want to hear what I have to say about it all. --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05 * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2) |
