 Thanks for posting the death notice, Allen, I just found it too. The 
 print version has a photo of Rick, and I suspect it was one of his 
 last shots for the CAFIB 20 (with rather more hair than I remember him 
 having when we last saw one another in the NDHQ smoking area in 2000). 
  
 I dealt with Rick on a few CFOO questions in my brief sojourn as a 
 staff wienie. He knew his stuff and, even more usefully, knew where 
 the pitfalls were, where most of the bodies were buried and which 
 twits, now in really high posts, had built their careers on whatever 
 half-baked programme. A very good man to have on one's side, and an 
 interesting friend with a wry sense of humour.
