3 more things I'd like to add. I come from immigrant parents and they frown
upon my decision to enlist partly because they ran from violence only to see
their son join an organization to face similar violence.
Secondly, visible minorities ( not all but the majority ) hate affirmative
action. Affirmative action diminishes the achievements made and makes for
hard feelings all around. We don't need it and I hope the CF never employs
it. The best recruiting strategy is simply to highlight ( not in an overt
way ) the achievements made by visible minorities within the CF ( ads are a
good start ). Colin Powell in the US is a remarkable inspiration ( IMHO )
for visible minorities ( black kid from the Bronx rising to highest military
post ).
Third, if CF is to be a reflection of Canadian society then there is
definitely racism in the CF.
