| Subj: B.C. forest fires |
I just saw a news article on the B.C. forest fires and was wondering if militrary aircraft could be used to fight them? Create some bombs filled with either water or that powder that they drop. To make things easier you could make the bombs the same shape and size as an existing bomb, say a MK84 or one of it's bigger cousins. That way any aircraft that could handle the explosive bomb could handle the firefighting one. It might even make for an interesting precision bombing training exercise for the pilots. That would also be true of the ground crew too as they tried turning planes around to get the most number os sorties flown. The only question is if it would be economically feasible. It might be that the biggest bang for the buck might be a B-52 carpet bombing a forest fire with firefighting bombs. Wouldn't that be a sight to see? -- john R.
