The Masonic rule of obedience is like the nautical, >>> Imperative: "Obey orders, even if you break owners." >>> >>> A Mason should know how to obey those who are set over him, however inferior >>> they may be in worldly rank; or condition." >> >> Sounds like a bunch of cult members who aren't allowed to think for >> themselves... >> "The order must *at once be obeyed*..." >> "However inferior they may be..." >> What sort of mentality tolerates these conditions? How does Free apply to >> Free Masons when "an order must at once be obeyed"? What's free about the >> free mason's? They sound like a bunch of automatons...doing what they're >> told - without question. Accepting labels like "inferior"... Was Hitler a >> free mason? hey Irish, (Free)Masonic traditions stretch back throughout the centuries and have had their roots attributed to Druidic and Alchemical traditions... many splinters have been forged over the centuries with many diverse manifestations such as the Rosicrucians and although much insidious plotting has been attributed toward their "secretiveness"... much of it (the secrecy aspect of their "inner-circles") has resulted from historical precedent for survival arising from situations such as Galileo's "punishments for heretical dallyings"... (most) of the mainstream traditions have evolved from an adherence to a belief in independent thinking... check out the writings of Robert Anton Wilson for some entertaining and insightful descriptions of various aspects of their history... afaik, anyone can become a member of one of the many lodges throughout the world... they do have their own rituals that one must follow to "rise up throughout" their own hierarchy, which is no different than any "religious" organization (or as in any other organization, for that matter). --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05 * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2) |
